The Best Apple Pie Recipe

With Thanksgiving coming up planning the dishes you are going to prepare is crucial to make the day run smoothly, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, are all yummy things we are all looking forward to eating…But we cant forget about dessert!

This Apple Pie recipe is one of the most delectable and easy apple pies recipes I have ever made. Now if you are making this preparing for a hectic day like thanksgiving, this is the recipe for you.

Starting off your going to take 8 Tablespoons of unsalted butter and melt that in a pan, then stir in 3 Tablespoons of flour and let it simmer, whisking for a minute constantly. After stirring for a minute whisk 1/4 cup of water and 3/4 cup of sugar into the pan, after it comes to a boil reduce the heat and continue simmering for about a 3 minutes stirring occasionally, your sauce should be a light golden brown color. Once the 3 minutes have passed take the pan and put it to the side to cool.

Next take 6 or 7 apples (Granny Smith preferably) and peel and core them, cut the apples in half and thinly slice each half. To a bowl add your sliced apples, ground cinnamon and your sauce. Mix these all together making sure all of your apples are coated.

On to the crust! Using your floured surface roll out your pie crust to about a 12 inch diameter circle, pick up your rolled out dough and lay it gentle in your pie pan, you should have a bit of your pie crust hanging on the edge. Now pour your apple filling into your pie pan slightly mounding the apples in the center ( make sure not to get any sauce on the edges because the crust will become hard to stick to the other) Once you are finished with the apple filling roll out your second piece of pie crust on a floured surface slightly smaller than your first. Now if you are willing to attempt a beautiful design on your pie, try a lattice design. You will start by cutting your pie crust in 1 inch strips vertically, Starting with your middle strip lay it over top of the pie, skipping the one next to your middle strip and going on to the one after lay that strip slightly spaced out next to the middle one repeating this process for the right side of the crust you cut and doing the same for the left side. With all your skipped over crust pieces horizontally weave them through the others in staring with the smallest piece at the edge and working your way to the other side of the crust. After you have finished weaving your pieces take the edge piece and pinch them using your fingers or you can use a fork to make your edges mend together.

Next take one egg and and a tablespoon of sugar and beat it together, brush this mixture over the top of your pie. Put your pie in the oven at 425 for 15 minutes then without opening your oven door reduce the heat to 350 and continue baking for 45 minutes. Finally take out your pie and let it rest for about an hour before eating. I suggest you serve this with homemade whipped cream or ice cream.

Hopefully you make and enjoy this delicious recipe and let me know what you think if you do!
